Our Airports

Just south of Minneapolis and St. Paul in Lakeville, Airlake Airport mostly serves recreational fliers but is also ideally suited for business aviation. 

Just north of Minneapolis and St. Paul, the Anoka County-Blaine Airport (ANE) serves the most diverse aircraft among the MAC’s general aviation airports. A variety of vintage, experimental, recreational and corporate aircraft are based at ANE, which is among the busiest of the MAC’s six reliever airports.

Named after the city in which it is located, Crystal Airport also sits adjacent to Brooklyn Park and Brooklyn Center. The airport currently has two paved and one turf runway and three non-precision instrument approaches. A self-serve fuel system, fixed-base operator and an FAA-operated air traffic control tower are located at the airport.

Flying Cloud (FCM) is the busiest airport in the MAC’s reliever airport system with more than 100,000 takeoffs and landings per year. Located just 10 miles south of Minneapolis, Flying Cloud is home base for many corporate jets and flight schools.

An easy drive to the St. Paul business district or to scenic destinations along the St. Croix River, such as Stillwater, Minnesota and Hudson, Wisconsin, Lake Elmo Airport is conveniently located for both business and leisure travelers.

While the Metropolitan Airports Commission encourages corporate and general aviation pilots to use one of its six general aviation airports when possible, there are facilities at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) available for non-commercial, general aviation aircraft.

In the mid-20th Century, St. Paul Downtown Airport (Holman Field) vied with Minneapolis' airport to become the area's primary air transportation center. Ultimately, the Minneapolis airport became what is now Minneapolis-St. Paul International and St. Paul Downtown became the metro area's primary facility for private business aviation.
