At the most recent Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) Noise Oversight Committee (NOC) meeting on July 17, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced that they will be hosting two two virtual public workshops to gather community feedback on their project to update MSP departure procedures using Area Navigation (RNAV) technology. The workshops are scheduled for:
-
August 14, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
-
August 15, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
For more information about the FAA’s proposed departure procedures or to register for the workshops, please visit the FAA website here: Community Engagement — Minneapolis-St. Paul | Federal Aviation Administration (faa.gov).
Additionally, at the July NOC meeting, Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC) staff shared an update on the ongoing runway construction project at MSP. The project remains on schedule despite inclement weather conditions. We appreciate the community's patience and understanding during this period of necessary maintenance. More information may be found here: Runway Construction. MAC staff also shared operation, complaint, and sound event data, comparing May and June 2024 to those same months in 2023.
The NOC is an advisory board to the MAC and is comprised of industry and community representatives who address aircraft noise issues associated with activity at MSP. The group meets on the third Wednesday of odd-numbered months. The next NOC meeting will be September 18, 2024, at 1:30 P.M. Agendas and meeting materials for NOC meetings and information on how to participate may be found here: NOC Meetings.
