MSP NOC September Meeting Update
The Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) Noise Oversight Committee (NOC) met last week on September 21. At this meeting, the NOC received an update on the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Neighborhood Environmental Survey (NES) and Noise Policy Review efforts from Sean Doyle, the FAA Deputy Regional Administrator for the Great Lakes Region.
The Noise Policy Review includes a reevaluation of the FAA’s primary noise metric and significance threshold and planning for regular external communication and engagement with stakeholders. Mr. Doyle noted that the NES is just one of the efforts that will inform the Noise Policy Review. Other efforts include the National Sleep Study and many other research projects currently underway. The meeting presentation, including Mr. Doyle's slides, are available here.
MAC staff and Mr. Doyle also provided an update on Eagan City Council's 2019 request. More information is available in the meeting presentation and in an article posted earlier this week.
The NOC also reviewed a draft of the 2023 Work Plan and received an update on the Summer Listening Session.
The NOC is an advisory board to the MAC and is comprised of industry and community representatives who address aircraft noise issues associated with activity at MSP. The group meets on the third Wednesday of odd-numbered months.
The agenda and meeting materials for NOC meetings and information on how to participate in these meetings may be found at: NOC Meetings.
