Zoning Boards
Zoning Our Airports
Each of the MAC’s Joint Airport Zoning Boards (JAZB) is tasked with developing a zoning ordinance for land uses around an airport, as described in Minnesota Statute 360.061 through 360.074 and Minnesota Rules 8800.1200 and 8800.2400. A JAZB is made up of representatives from the cities, counties and/or townships that control land use development around an airport.
Using a collaborative process, a JAZB seeks to develop an airport zoning ordinance that achieves a balance between a reasonable level of public safety while facilitating compatible development.
Long-Term Comprehensive Plans
Zoning's Role in Planning
The MAC Airports' Zoning Boards frequently deal with issues tied to the Long-Term Comprehensive Plans (LTCP) for each property. Information about those plans is found at the link.
