MAC reliever airports' summer events fly high in July
As July approaches, some of the most popular summer events at the Metropolitan Airports Commission's (MAC) reliever airports are set to kick off.
Starting the weekend of July 7, Lakeville’s Panorama of Progress, or Pan-O-Prog, will include activities at Airlake Airport. There’s a Fly-In Breakfast sponsored by the Lions Club on Sunday, July 9, starting at 7:30 a.m. and running until 11 a.m.
The MAC will also have a “Paint the Plow” activity for kids at Airlake, and several pieces of field maintenance heavy equipment will be on display.
A new attraction at the Airlake event this year is the Commemorative Air Force “Rise Above” traveling exhibit.
On the weekend of July 22 and 23, visit Flying Cloud Airport for the Wings of the North AirExpo Air Show, which always draws a big crowd. See aircraft on the ground and watch a variety of planes and other aircraft overhead. A wide range of activities for the whole family is featured, along with food trucks and other dining options.
For the first time ever, this year the MAC will also be on-site at the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh Air Show in Oshkosh, Wis. The MAC will partner with the Minnesota Department of Transportation Aeronautics and Aviation division at its booth on July 25 and 26. Scheduled for the week of July 24 -30, the EAA Air Show is one of the nation's most popular, with more than 3,200 planes flying in last year. Vintage, homebuilt, ultralight, warbirds, seaplanes and aerobatic are among the types of aircraft typically seen at the show.
We hope to see you at a MAC event soon!
