Meet the Fleet: the Goodyear Blimp soars in the Twin Cities
For the latest video in the Metropolitan Airports Commission's (MAC) Meet the Fleet video series, the crew that operates the Goodyear Blimp worked with the MAC to provide a behind-the-scenes and above-the-city look at one of the country’s most iconic aircraft.
The blimp is in Minnesota on occasion, usually for the 3M Open Golf Tournament held each summer at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine. During its visits, the Goodyear Blimp has frequently moored at the MAC's Anoka County-Blaine Airport. In recent years, the Goodyear Blimp has also taken the opportunity to visit the AirExpo air show at Flying Cloud Airport in Eden Prairie. Both Anoka County-Blaine and Flying Cloud are reliever airports operated by the MAC.
In the video (runtime 3:45), you’ll hear from the Goodyear Blimp's pilot, the ground operations manager, and see how the mobile support team follows the Goodyear Blimp to its destinations around the country.
