Federally required training will not impact airline or other flight operations

The Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) Fire Department will conduct live fire training Monday, May 19, through Thursday, May 22. It is possible that members of the public in the vicinity of the northwest end of the airfield could see smoke and flames coming from the controlled training exercise, scheduled primarily during daytime hours.

This annual training exercise uses a mobile aircraft fire trainer with a propane gas system to simulate conditions responders may face during an emergency. The training is required by federal regulations. It will not impact aircraft operations.

The MSP Airport Fire Department will co-train with mutual aid partners that serve other airports in the Metropolitan Airports Commission airport system. The West Metro Fire Department (Crystal Airport) and the Eden Prairie Fire Department (Flying Cloud Airport) will participate in the training exercise on May 20 and May 22.
