MSP To Host Large-scale Job Fair on February 3
Hundreds of Hospitality, Restaurant, Retail, Airline and Aviation Positions Available
Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) will host a job fair on Thursday, Feb. 3 for airport operators and companies seeking to fill 700 full-time, part-time and seasonal positions across multiple job fields, including restaurant, retail, hotel, airline, and other aviation-related businesses.
The job fair will include representation from 30 companies, including MSP’s two largest airlines: Delta Air Lines and Sun Country Airlines.
Employers are offering competitive starting wages and benefits, with many jobs paying more than minimum wage. The airport’s minimum wage increased to $14.25/hour in July 2021 and will increase again to $15/hour in July 2022. Hiring and retention bonuses are also being offered by select employers.
“Passengers continue to return to travel, which means more exciting opportunities are opening for job seekers at MSP,” said Eric Johnson, director of commercial management and airline affairs for the Metropolitan Airports Commission, which operates MSP. “We held similar large-scale job fairs in 2021, which successfully led to the hiring of hundreds of new employees. This next event will help airport employers continue to increase their staffing levels ahead of a busy spring season, when we expect to see air travel ramp up even further.”
MSP’s annual passenger traffic numbers made significant progress in 2021 to continue recovery from the ongoing impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, surpassing 25.2 million total passengers. This represents a 69.6% increase over 2020 but is still 36.6% lower than 2019, which capped 10 years of total passenger growth at a record 39.5 million passengers.
Job seekers should bring their resume and be prepared to fill out applications on site. Some employers are planning to make job offers during the event. Applicants are encouraged to bring two forms of ID to expedite their hiring process.
The job fair will be held from noon to 4 p.m. on the ground level of the Terminal 1 Silver Parking Ramp. This is a pre-security area of the airport. Participants will not need to go through security to attend.
Job seekers can take the MetroTransit Blue Line to the Terminal 1 MSP Airport Station, which directly connects to the Silver Ramp. Those driving a personal vehicle can park in Terminal 1’s Red or Blue ramps and access the Silver Ramp by elevator or stairs on the Tram (T) Level.
All job fair participants must wear a face mask to comply with current federal health safety regulations.
