Airlake Airport EA/EAW Public Open House
Date/Time
Location
Join us for a public open house to learn about the environmental review process for airfield improvements at Airlake Airport (LVN). The open house will be held on September 10, 2026, from 6-7 p.m., in the Marion Conference Room at Lakeville City Hall. Interested members of the public can stop by at their convenience to learn about the environmental process, purpose and need for the project, alternatives being considered, and preliminary environmental findings and key considerations, and to speak with MAC staff and members of the project team. This meeting is intended to provide an opportunity for public questions and comments and to identify community concerns and stakeholder interests.
The Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC), owner and operator of the LVN, is proposing to make various improvements to LVN’s airfield. This environmental review process was initiated to achieve the planning goals outlined in the Airlake Airport 2035 Long-Term Plan, which was approved by the MAC Board in April 2018.
To meet these goals, the MAC plans to make airfield improvements and is completing a Federal Environmental Assessment (EA) and a State Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EAW) to evaluate the potential for environmental impact from these improvements. The Federal EA is being developed in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) policies and procedures detailed in FAA Order 1050.1G (and related documents) for compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) regulations and Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) implementation guidance. The State EAW will be developed in compliance with the Minnesota Environmental Policy Act (MEPA) and related Minnesota Environmental Quality Board (EQB) guidance.
