Emergency Management

The overall goal of emergency preparedness is to ensure the MAC, MSP Airport and all partners are ready to respond in a coordinated manner to natural disasters, aviation incidents or accidents, communicable diseases and other emergency situations.

The MAC’s Emergency Manager is Barret Lane. He develops, documents and implements policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure readiness and compliance with state and federal regulations. In addition, he develops training programs for the MSP Airport community in compliance with the National Incident Management System and the National Response Plan.

Lane also represents the MAC in matters related to state and local emergency management planning and programming. Prior to joining the MAC in 2023, he served for 12 years as the City of Minneapolis’ emergency management director.
