Overnight MSP Flight Check
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) may be operating a flight check tonight and possibly tomorrow night at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP). The FAA periodically conducts this type of flight to verify navigational equipment on the airfield is functioning within necessary parameters. For this flight, the FAA intends to test equipment for MSP Runway 12L, and plans to fly unique approaches to, and departures from the runway to test the various navigational equipment.
Runway 12L will be closed to regular operations during the testing and Runway 17 may be used for arrivals instead, as needed. As a result of this testing, you may notice unusual flight patterns and an aircraft conducting unusual maneuvers in your community.
Runway use information and flight activity are available on the MAC FlightTracker at: www.macnoise.com/tools-reports/flighttracker. Information about runway closures at MSP is available at: www.macnoise.com/tools-reports/runway-closures. Anyone with questions regarding airfield or aircraft noise and/or runway closures due to construction may call the Community Relations Office at 612-726-9411.
