Permits and Inspections Procedure

  1. The Permits and Inspections Department of Airport Development is responsible for the overall administration of the Metropolitan Airports Commission Building Code Ordinance.  The Building Official is directly accountable to the Planning and Environment Deputy Executive Director. 
  2. The Building Official responsibilities: 
    • Permit applications and administration 
    • Implementation and enforcement of the State of Minnesota Building Code 
    • Implementation and enforcement of the Metropolitan Airports Commission Design and Construction Standards 
    • Plan review 
    • Collection of fees 
    • Issuance of permits 
    • Inspections  
    • Retention of inspection history and building construction permits. 
  3. The purpose of the Building Code is to provide minimum requirements to safeguard life or limb, health, and public welfare and to protect property as it relates to these safeguards by regulating and controlling the design, construction, prefabrication, equipment or appliance installation, quality of materials, use and occupancy, location and repair.
