Security Review

  1. MAC design consultant is to schedule meetings with MAC’s Airport Police Department to review security concerns at Preliminary Design, Design Development and Final Documents. Contact the Airport Security Manager to schedule these meetings.  
  2. Due to the complexities of security at the MSP, it is essential to identify and address security concerns early in the design. These meetings should review: The project relationship and security access points to Airport Security Areas 
    1. Project perimeter. The number of points of entry (to be minimized).  
    2. Landscape and fencing impact on security. 
    3. Minimize heavy security features (use of concertina). 
    4. Blast walls, glass treatment, ballistic and explosive criteria. 
    5. Construction access, control over tools of the trade, fencing and gate locations.
    6. Documents for door security and hardware requirements. 
    7. Requirements in Section 01 35 13 – Special Project Procedures
  3. The MAC project approval, review, and permit process must be utilized for all proposed development projects at MAC airports! 
  4. Any and all project work must be initiated and facilitated through the MAC project approval, review, and permit process. All project work must be designed and completed in compliance with the MAC Standards! A MAC permit must be received before any work can start! (FAA Airspace 7460 permit must also be reviewed and processed as required)

  6. Contact MAC Airport Development Senior Architectural Technician regarding record drawing or as-built information. 
  7. Approval, review, and permit process - “step by step” 
    1. Request in writing approval from MAC CMAA and Airport Development for all proposed projects, renovations, equipment installations or to make changes in any MAC property, leasehold area, or site. 
    2. Obtain existing record drawing (as-built) information from MAC Airport Development for project document preparation and submittal. 
    3. Have your consultant prepare and complete drawings and specifications submittals and reviews per MAC Standards for your proposed project. 
    4. Fill out MAC permit application form and submit six (6) sets of drawings and specifications to MAC Permits & Inspections for review and approval. 
    5. Pay fees and obtain permit to proceed. 
    6. Hire contracting company to complete the work contacting MAC Permits & Inspections and MAC Trades for permit required inspections. 
    7. Advise MAC Permits & Inspections, Airport Development, and CMAA when all work is complete. 
    8. Obtain and display “certificate of occupancy” if required from Permits & Inspections.
